Since 2013-ish, we’d been plagued by an unscratchable itch – that something’s gotta give feeling. Through a series of fortunate events (that didn’t involve lucky Powerball numbers, though I wish it had), we were able to escape from the scrambling whirlwind of city life and settle in De Rust in the Western Cape.
The transition from city kids to country home-makers has been an interesting one and will surely get more exciting and enriching as life progresses. So many friends and acquaintances have asked how it was possible for mid-thirty-somethings to go and live a rural life, and what the logistics are should they, per chance, want to do the same thing.
Hence this blog. A source of information, advice, inspiration and hopefully entertainment – a window into what it takes to make a life (and a living) in the South African countryside.
